Sorry for the necro, but I think it is too important to pass up. Could the Explorer View and Local Files View be combined using Filters, so the same function in Local View would be available in Explorer View? Then just merge the two into one for more simplicity with the same functions?

E.g.,

Explorer View with Grouping or not. Also, ability to play selected file w/o adding playlist, or option to add to playlist. Filter Folders option to filter just your music folders, or show all folder, and so on.

PS-- I like how you have it and I can see the beauty of it, but it seems overly complicated. having just ONE local view, which would be Explorer View with all of the ability of ?Local File" view would clean things up. And then again, option to add to playlist or auto add to new playlist (like it is now). I would not want to get rid of the automatic playlist by clicking on a file because that is a really easy way to create a playlist if you need to hear a few seconds of each song.no auto playlist creation.

Am I making sense?

No. Player is designed to play from playlists. You cannot play files without adding the files to playlist

What is the benefit to users to not have both options?

e.g.,


(1) Okay, so necessitating a playlist every time a file plays is duplicative. For instance, under local files, we already have all files information in the left and center panels (see attachment). Why create more clutter with the same information?

(2) Same thing for other music files: If we want to play a file from the Windows File Explorer, and we have AIMP set for default playback, opening that single file creates a playlist with the same information as the playing file information.*

*I like that option for files that are not in the Local Files already, that is, for orphaned files that one is downloading and hasn't organized yet. For those instances,  it's pretty cool to have it open a new playlist "default" because that way you can see other files that you have listened too, a history. I like it.

But I don't see any reason to open a local files playlist every time a song is started in the Local Files areas. It just duplicates information.

It would just be nice to have the option to either create playlists, or not on playing a file.

Next again. Music Library is a catalog of your music. Playlists - it what's playing, files in correct order to play. Playlist can contains music from few catalogs (folders, clouds and etc), sorted or grouping in different criteria, it more powerful tool comparing to music library.
