No changes in music folder, but Aimp runs with up to about 50 % CPU?

Why does Aimp run with up to about 50 % CPU often / all the time although there are no new files added / files changed / moved / copied in / to the music folders? So it says it adds / find files, after a while that message is gone, than it adds files again without me having added files or changed anything. So almost all the time Aimp uses 25-50 % of CPU.




These files had already been in the music folders since I pressed "Update" in the "File Monitoring" Window a few days ago.

Is there anything I could do to avoid that?

Why don't you try un-checking "Monitor for changes while running", and only leave "Check for new files at startup" checked?

If I remember correctly, you have all your playlist files being copied elsewhere while they are played--something like that.  That could be why in "Do during update" with "Search for moved or renamed files" checked it's always re-adding the files to the moved playlists while the list is played.  That's GOT to be a CPU eater!  I think you have the whole concept of playlists operating differently than anyone else--not a condemnation, just an observation.

Ultimately though I'm just guessing.  Well, I hope you can solve it.

Yes, a good idea, that would be my next try (I always think there must come a point Aimp would stop finding / adding files...but it obviously does not. And I was concerned about "Check for new files at startup" that it would take a long time each time after starting Aimp to go (without a need) through all the albums again (without me having added files or changed anything). Oops, just a crash again.

Yes, indeed, each playlist in the album folder.

Well, maybe that's (high CPU use, crashed, sluggishness, etc.) the (fully automated) punishment for people illegally using Aimp incorrectly. Even if I wanted the playlists to be stored in the playlist folder, it would not be possible, I guess. It appears when there are a special amount of playlists, maybe 3000 Aimp gets quite sluggish, slow and I manually have to remove the playlists Aimp automatically stores there.

This is the part I could never understand.  I don't use the music library, just playlists of my own creation (mostly radio stations)--which AIMP stores in its "Playlists" folder. If you want AIMP to play an album, can't you just click that album name in your library and PLAY it??  Why do you need to make a "playlist" first to do that?  That's what the problem is, all this moving/scanning thousands of files around every time you want to play something.  NOBODY does that, Biff!

Because I have deactivated tracks for almost every album I do not want to hear and I have cues for many single tracks and there might be tracks from other albums added to that playlist of an album, etc.

Well well, maybe one can call me an Aimp outlaw (without fear and blame). I would not say I would think it is normal (although I would have thought so, I guess, and having a single folder for playlist would not be normal), but that is what actually works for me, respectively it should, would not know any other method now. I still cannot understand why one would store the playlists in a single folder. When the album folders are renamed, moved these playlists get useless. Why not having everything belonging together what belongs to an album, have in a single album folder?
