I have figured out that the Media Player skin is just an AIMP skin I downloaded to help with running visualizations earlier.  It is not the real Media Player skin, just a skin for AIMP that looks like it, "WMP10 Full Mode".  My bug is resolved.

I think I will need to uninstall both of my installations of AIMP and re-install.  User error.

BASIC RULES FOR THIS SECTION:

1. Preparation for writing a message :

1.1 Before creating a topic, update the player to the CURRENT VERSION , and check the reproducibility of the error on it, because it could have already been fixed, even if it was not mentioned in the log of fixed errors.
1.2 Also use SEARCH . It is possible that a similar topic already exists.

2. Topic design :

2.1 Each error must have a separate topic.
2.2 The topic title must be in the form: [Build number][Bit depth] Module: the essence of the question.
      - "Bit depth" - x64 or x32
      - "Module" is AIMP / ATE / Installer, roughly speaking, an exe-file or a plugin
      Example: [810][x64] ATE: Changing tags in mp3 does not work.

2.3 The topic title should reflect the main idea, the essence of the topic (topics with names like "glitch", "small problem" and other meaningless ones can be deleted).
2.4 Prefix before the build number (put only by the developer or moderator!):
      - missing - the developer has not viewed this topic yet
     - [ x ] - fixed
     - [ ? ] - the problem could not be repeated
     - [ + ] - resolved, it is not possible to correct the comment, the described behavior is not an error
     - [ - ] - incorrectly formatted topic
2.5 If you want to leave a comment on the player, then put the prefix [З] before the prefix with the build number.

3. Topic content :
> AIMP is displaying a Microsoft Media Player skin when run.  I have by accident 2 installations of AIMP, 1 in Program Files\AIMP and one somewhere else.  Attachment shows AIMP help (blank) with AIMP running with Media Player skin partially viewable.

3.1 Try to describe the problem in as much detail as possible. If you cannot explain it in words, take a screenshot or record a video from the monitor screen (I recommend using UVScreenCamera ) and attach it to the message.

3.2 If you have problems with a file, radio, etc., then provide a link to the file itself. If you get a bug report window, then post the bug report file ( where can I find it? ).

3.3 In your message, specify the version of your OS (operating system) in detail (for example, Win XP SP2 RUS or Win Vista 64 SP1 ENG or Win 10 Pro build 1903 RUS).

4. Release of a new build :

4.1 When a new build is released, check the reproducibility of old errors:
      - If the error is fixed and you no longer have it, then report it.
      - Otherwise, update the topic title, remove the [ x ] prefix and report that the error is not fixed.

A screen shot attached.  (I think I got it capture.png)  What do you think?  See how the AIMP help window is blank?  You can see part of the Media Player skin.

I now have 2 aimp installations, 1 under Program Files and 1 not.  Symptom is Microsoft Media Player skin is displayed instead of AIMP skin (Violet) on running any shortcut to the AIMP installation in Program Files\AIMP.

I made a new shortcut to the one not under Program Files and it showed my AIMP skin.  I did something inside AIMP and it showed the Media Player skin and changed the shortcut destination folder and "start in" box in the file properties tab in File Explore.  Older shortcuts pointing to Program Files\AIMP show media player skin. Very strange.  I am planning to 7zip up the two AIMP folders, delete and reinstall new one again.  I have a lot of skins and plugins and playlists.  Seems like a lot of trouble but will be worth it to have a proper installation of AIMP.  I think I did a Windows installation of the newest AIMP.

Also, I now have only one playlist with all files from different folders in it.

I am willing to follow your directions first to figure out what happened.  I will try not to make the same mistake twice.

Thank you and all others who responded.  I just checked in.  I downloaded the latest version of AIMP and, probably coincidentally, am seeing the default analog visualizations in the visualization window in Violet skin.  Might have to re-install the visualization that I wanted to see.  Thanks again for the help.  In any case, the Violet skin has spectrum displays in the skin.  I guess it is the same as I would see in visualizations.

the Windows Media Player 10 skin worked fine right-clicking in the vis area!  Thank you!  I would love to know how to get that menu in the Violet vis window, or wherever it's accessible.  I think I used it in the distant past, and I want to use a spectrum graph.

Thanks to people responding.  I looked at the .png,  I understand that you get the menu from clicking on the visualization that is part of an AIMP skin.  I also downloaded the Windows Media Player 10 skin and I will try it.  Thanks again.

Oh, I think it is right mouse button.  I'm sorry but I right-clicked on the middle of the album art window and the menu shows "Dock", "Maximize", "Normal Mode", "Stay on Top" and "Pin Window Position".  Thank you for answering, I hope I'm giving you enough information.

   I have done searches here but I haven't found out how to run a visualizion in AIMP.  Sorry!  I have installed SpectrumFlame4 but I don't know what part of AIMP displays it.  I can show album art with the "Visualizations - Show" button on the Violet skin but not visualization plugins.  Any help appreciated.  Thank you.

I am getting somewhere with the record [on/off] button.  I got a playlist containing a radio station URL into AIMP.  When that is playing, record [on/off] works.

Sorry, I have never done that before.  Pushing <record radio> in AIMP 5.11 default skin doesn't do anything.
  See on right of skin.
