Basic - can see folders (albums) on sd card, but empty, no files

I have spent quite a bit of time looking through the forum and online, and trying different things, but I'm not getting anywhere.  I'm older, too - it's probably obvious to everyone else, sorry.

Installed v2.85 Build 718 on LG Stylo 3.  In Windows Explorer I copied a couple of albums (each a folder containing music files) into a folder called 'Music', then copied that Music folder to the sd card.  Have tried copying to:  1) root of card, at level with 'Android', 2) below 'Android', at level of 'media', and 3) below 'media'.  Getting similar results.

When I try Add all audio files from SD, I don't see anything happening.  At present, when I try Add Files, I can see my folders/albums in:  /storage/80A9-1DE4/Music - but I see only the folders, no files.     ('80A9-1DE4' appears on a level with 'emulated' and 'self', under /storage.)

Whether I can get this to work for me or not, thanks for being out there - I see there are an awful lot of people extremely pleased with what you've produced.

1. Make sure that app has all required permissions
2. Make sure that this folder does not contains any .nomedia files
3. Try to switch on displaying hidden files in app settings

I did do those things, earlier.  Learned my error was much simpler than that.  Sorry to have bothered you.
