Yes just delete the "Aimp_DiskCover" folder from plugins before installing the 32-bit plugin.

If you have a 64-bit OS, then a 64-bit application (like the 64-bit AIMP) is able to use more memory registers and use an almost unlimited amount of RAM, instead of being restricted to a 3.49GB maximum like 32-bit applications are.  This can lead to much faster operation when dealing with things like large databases and simultaneous manipulation of large amounts of data.

You can still use 32-bit applications on a 64-bit OS, but they will continue to be restricted by the RAM usage limit.

If you have a huge library or use a lot of DSPs, VSTs, etc.you will benefit from a 64-bit AIMP.  Otherwise staying with 32-bit is fine.

If you have a huge library

Maybe 4000-6000 albums or so I guess on the main drive, probably not that big. I cannot use the library anyway, because Aimp does not work properly anymore then, gets sullgish, slow, "no response", etc. So maybe it actually is better to use the 64 bit version. But I assume to transfer all of my settings, plugins to it wil be quite complex. What did I have to do?

Open a profile folder (under the settings menu).
Close AIMP.
Open AIMP.ini in a profile folder.
Clear [Plugins] AND [Plugins.CachedInfo] sections. Save file.
Run AIMP.

P.S. You can reinstall AIMP to x64 without replace (move/remove) settings. But some plugins only x32, so need check your plugins.

remove the "cover" expression from the plugins search box to be sure you're seeing everything.  Is it in the main listing now?

If not delete its folder again.  Are you using the "-x32" zip from Github, or "aimp_DiskCover.zip" file from the AIMP website?  Try the latter.

Yes with the problems you describe you SHOULD benefit from using the 64-bit AIMP.  You're right about your settings probably being "complex", or else the best route is a new-from-scratch one.

First do what Алексей Долматов described in his post, and see if that speeds things up for your existing version.  If not, he indicates you CAN update an existing 32-bit install to 64-bit, which I did not realize.  I guess that involves downloading the 64-bit installer, and telling it put the Portable version into the same folder you use now.  As he said though, any 32-bit "3rd-party" plugins would need to be deleted and reinstalled in their 64-bit formats--if those formats exist, including DiskCover Plugin.

An alternative route would be to keep what you have now (do the Алексей Долматов recommendations though), and make a whole new 64-bit portable install in a DIFFERENT folder than the 32-bit.  Then you can use it fresh and gradually move your settings, playlists, etc. from the 32-bit one over to it at your own pace.

You do a lot of things and ask a lot of questions.
Download the "No Installer" versions (both bit depths) from the site. Practice installing only this plugin, without changing anything else. If you download the plugin from the catalog and install it via the player (do not open Explorer, archiver), then there should be no difference in installation for any bit depth and the plugin should be displayed.
If after this recommendation the plugin is not displayed, then pack both folders of the "No installer" player and share it via a file exchanger (for example, filetransfer).
If after this recommendation the plugin is displayed in the portative (no installer) version, then there is some conflict in the installed version. For example, a plugin conflict and you need to look for the cause. You can also pack the player folder and its settings profile folder and send the link to the developer via the feedback form. I do not recommend publishing in open form if you are not sure that all data is safe to publish in the installation you are using (for example, file lists, "passwords" to service sites).

For example, there is no problem copying player skins, exporting and importing playlists.
