Questions about Skins

As far as I can see all selectable skins are stored in folder

<AIMPbase>\Profile\Skins\

But for what are the Skins in folder

<AIMPbase>\Skins\
?

Other question:

As far as I read *.acs4 Skins cannot be loaded (directly) into Skin Editor.
Do I really need for *.acs4 Skins the *.acs4proj file or is there a workaround which let me (at least partially) edit these Skins anyway?

The ones in AIMP/Skins are the ones that come with the player--normally you'll see pandemic in there, Bliss 4k is the "built-in" default.  The ones in the Profile folder are whatever you decided to download and install yourself; it also holds the ini files from the built-in ones.

You do need a skin's project file to work with it in the skin editor;  the one for Bliss 4k is built-in to the editor so you always have that (File/New Project).  For other skins' project files, the authors sometimes (not very often though) post them in the forum thread for their skin, or you can try asking them directly there.  The issue is authors don't want to find their skins showing up someplace with some minor change with another person then claiming they are the skin's author.

One thing I am confused is that there are heavy differences between Skin versions and AIMP version.

When I go for example in

Options--->Interface---->Skins

then "Pandemic v1.60" is currently used as Skin
This version is inteded to be in acs2 format.

However when I go to folder

<AIMPbase>\Profile\Skins\

then there is are two files

Pandemic.acs4
Pandemic.acs4.ini

which indicates that this is an acs4 Skin.

Hmm, whats wrong?

Can an xxxx.acs4 skin in the format of acs2?

How do I really find out to which skin format level a skin file beloangs?

Why? Skins and Plugins have own version numbers.
