Ошибки и замечания / Bugs / [?] [2398] AIMP lags when Scale Factor <> 100%
« on: October 05, 2022, 22:26:19 »
I have been using AIMP for about 3 years. About a year ago it started to load (open), maximize, minimize, using/clicking seek bar and load (play) files slowly, like computer was old or slow.
At first, I thought there was a bad setting in the INI configuration file, so I uninstalled and then reinstalled a new, fresh AIMP. With the DEFAULT settings, I loaded all my files and it was very fast, very responsive. But then, I put all the same settings like the old installation and it became slow again, I knew a specific setting was causing this.
Using AIMP on a Ryzen 5, 8GB, SSD machine, connected to 4K TV via HDMI (4k resolution, only tv displayed).
--------------------------------------
SETTINGS THAT CAUSE PROBLEMS (I always have latest version of AIMP)
Layout: Standard
Theme: Dark (also windows in dark mode)
Apply accent color to bottom bar: YES
Apply accent color to window frame: YES
Round window corners: OFF
PREFERENCES > INTERFACE > GENERAL
Night mode: Automatically
Scale Factor: 225%
Text size: 100%
Color schema (automatically): OFF
PREFERENCES > INTERFACE > SKINS
Everything OFF except "Show waveform of playing file over the seek bar"
PREFERENCES > INTERFACE > VISUALIZATION
Everything OFF
--------------------------------------
If "Allow per-pixel semi-transparency" was ENABLED, AIMP opened/loaded about 50% faster, but still slow when using it.
Then I also put Scale Factor to 100%/96dpi and everything was very small, but AIMP now was very fast! Everything was normal, very fast and responsive.
Because everything was very small, I tried something different to make AIMP icons and text to be bigger:
Right-click AIMP.exe > Compatibility > Change high DPI settings > High DPI scaling override > Override High DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by: ENABLED (SYSTEM)
Now AIMP is bigger, good size for TV and works fast. Text is a bit pixelated but it is OK, it looks OK.
