There is a difference between pause and stop, otherwise I would not waste your time.
There is a limited amount of seconds that is buffered somewhere (server?) and if the stream is paused for more than a that specific buffer time, the stream will drop and restart like it was stopped.

Please test by downloading AAC file (Soma.FM):

Pause for 3 minutes, then un-pause and listen.
After a few seconds the stream will drop and restart form 'live' point.

Maybe Soma.FM cuts the buffer when they change songs?

First, thank you very much for the latest 5.11.2425 release.

Can you please allow the old behavior where the Pause button stops the radio stream?
Maybe add an option in Internet Radio>General Settings?

Reasons:
The several seconds of buffer resets automatically and the program return to be live, so it is no different than stopping.
I use a small multimedia controller where I have a volume knob, next/previous and play/pause buttons, is was very convenient to stop the stream with the pause button.

Just enable "Restore playback position for each playlist" in Preferences > Player > Automatic
When you want to continue playing a book - rigth click on playlist tab > Play

Wow! This is exactly what I wanted, thank you very much!
I would never have guessed to right_click->Play on the playlist even after enabling the 'restore' option.
Quite amazing that no one else suggested this in 1.5 years, thank you again.

2023 bump.

I miss this feature very much, I need to use goddamn foobar2000 to listen to audiobooks so I can pause and not lose the position and listen to music in AIMP.
Incorporating Bookmarks into Music Library was a mistake, I hate using Bookmarks even more now.

Comparing to youtube and other online podcast playback with speed control, there is no artifacts when playing at faster speed and the pitch is correct.
Can AIMP Tempo control be improved to match modern speed algorithms?

Disable (untick) "Allow per-pixel semi-transparency" and click AIMP window in and out of focus.

Another thing I noticed is resizing AIMP window size it doesn't do it in real time like in previous 5.02, it resizes a black border and only when I release the mouse click it changes size, very hard to see the black border when I drag it.

Okay found the cause.
I had "Allow per-pixel semi-transparency" Disabled, since AIMP3 days.
I Enabled it and it fixed the border flicker, I don't use any animation or transparency features.

I'm happy now. 
64bit version works great.

I just updated to 5.03, when AIMP goes in and out of focus the border flickers white, very distracting.
It did not happen in 5.02, I hope it is fixed quickly. 

edit:
Happens with every skin I tried (Charm, Bliss 4K)
I'm using night mode.
Happens in 32bit and 64bit versions.

It is not there anymore, I removed it while cleaning AIMP and I also removed the backups from the !Backup folder.

I guess my question is whether I can download Bliss 4k anywhere now?
I tried searching in the Skins section on the website, but Bliss 4k is not available to download.

I've updated to AIMP 5 and my favorite skin Bliss 4k was removed.
I can't find Bliss 4k anywhere now, very sad indeed.

Will anyone else find it useful to maintain playback position between playlists?
I really don't like opening another window with the music library and bookmarks, I also forget to bookmark the position of audiobooks when I want to listen to some music.
Pausing position between playlists will be very convenient.

Hi. 

I listen to audiobooks (long files) and I'd like to pause the playlist/audio and jump to another playlist to listen to music, then go back to the paused playlist in the exact same spot.
Bookmarks are cumbersome, instead one can 'pause between playlists', it's much more convenient for long audio files like audiobooks or records.
I sometimes play other files by mistake (double click) and lose the audiobook position.

Один недостаток который мешает мне уже годами.
Обложка CD мутная, нет контрастности, плохо видно картинку.
Не могу понять почему до сих пор не починили это.
