Title: Automatically sort multiple files when they are opened externally
Post by: Voxtopass on March 18, 2022, 05:13:38
Currently, if you open a set of files from file explorer, the files are sometimes added in a random, weird order (I can't even tell what ordering is used). I think it makes much more sense for them to be sorted according to track number, title, or artist. All other media players (video or audio) I have used do this by default.

Being able to pick the default ordering would be very nice. Or possibly even specify a hierarchy/order like you can with the "sort template". But even just using the same ordering as the built in file-adding uses would be an improvement.

Thank you!

Starting from v5, AIMP sorts playlist automatically after adding files using latest template that you have selected. If template is not specified, files in playlist will not be sorted

Okay, that's good to hear.

I've realized the reason I thought files weren't being sorted is because AIMP doesn't sort full-width numbers (used in languages like Japanese) correctly. A lot of my files have Japanese file names, and when they use numbers, I think it's ignoring them. I guess this should be a bug report. I'll repost this again.
