DirectSound is unavailable in Windows 11
Is there a reason for this? Because AIMP runs just fine with DirectSound on Windows 11 under compatibility mode.
Surface Pro 7 cannot change the output to 44.1KHz, so I rely on DirectSound in order to avoid having AIMP to resample everything to 48KHz. I know the device will resample everything to 48KHz before the final output, but I don't want AIMP to do this resampling.

Soolo, I am not claiming to hear any difference, because I cannot. That is not my problem, I don't want AIMP to do the resampling, and I also want 32-bit float audio. DirectSound is perfectly functional on Windows 10 21h2 and Windows 11 21h2, I don't understand why is it even a debate whether to remove a perfectly functional option.

don't want AIMP to do the resampling
But our resampler has better quality than DirectSound's one. DirectSound is just a backward compatibility interface that emulates old API based on new WASAPI.

I also want 32-bit float audio
for what?

I am not arguing that. Personally I can't hear a difference. It just makes no sense to me as to why this option needs to be removed in W11. It works perftectly, even in W11.

for what?
Better/faster anticlipping than the implemented version under Settings>Transform.

Well, on my PC with an i7-11800H TaskManager will report 1 - 1.3% CPU usage while AIMP is using the built in anticlipping. Relying on 32-bit float audio for anticlipping AIMP uses less than 0.1%. It's not much, but I think 32-bit float is more efficient.

best anticlipping - turn down the volume

Quality != Cpu Usage

Maybe.

You can change this in Windows
I'm on win11, windows settings is 192kHz 32bit stereo
Bun AIMP display 192kHz 32bit 7.1 and I can't change to stereo and player not work at all.

Я видел ваш вопрос в почте, до машинки с Windows 11 пока не добрался. Как получится - отпишусь в письме
