Title: Manually finding moved files
Post by: verbal on September 23, 2021, 23:23:47
I've changed some of the external hard drives and re-sorted the music archive.
Is there any way to manually find and replace paths to files instead of re-scanning the entire library because it takes "awhile"..
2 days approximately.. and after the first try I didn't succeed... player crashed for some reason and showing an old database...

Refer to Misc menu and select the "find missed files" menu item

If you think of the "Misplaced files..." option in Music Library, it doesn't seem to get the job done easier and faster than updating the whole library again.
Since there is a lot of dead files, there is no option to replace all paths at once, instead, I can only change files 1 by 1, when I select a bunch of files and point them to another (new) folder, updating takes as much time as updating library...
Is there any way to open the Local.adb file as a text file and replace paths:
For instance:
D:\Music\Song 1
replace with:
A:\Guitar Music\Song 1

You can specify this folder for auto-search in the dialog. Player will replaced paths by itself. Anyway, I think the "replace path" feature will be so useful for music library and playlists, I will implement it in one of future version of player

No

The "Replace path" feature would be definitely helpful..
Another thing is something I have had a problem with for a long time, and still finding different ways to overcome it...
My Local.adb file is over 207 MB and ML counts over 408 000 songs
The fact is that the player can't run normally through such a big base.
It constantly freezes or crashes, and as I could've noticed it's closely related to the way how reads the data from the Local.adb.
Player freezes on every song change or rating .. even itself just during playback, CPU and Memory usage go into red along with the power usage.
Whenever I detach Local.adb by simply renaming it, the player runs without any troubles with barely 6% of CPU usage and very low power consumption.
Then if I want to rate songs I have to send them to other playlists where I would rate them later on with Local.adb attached and during the time when the player writes the new data into the database, it's absolutely impossible to use it...
