Title: Icecast/Shoutcast plugin
Post by: Deide on February 03, 2020, 01:53:49
The one thing left that Winamp has going for it is the ability to "share" what you're listening to with a friend or group of friends via Shoutcast/Icecast with plugins like dsp_sc and dsp_altacast. These take the audio playing in Winamp and stream to a Shoutcast or Icecast server for others to connect to; like a radio station.

With a little testing, I did manage to get AIMP to recognise older versions of dsp_sc.dll, and even get it to connect to a Shoutcast server (had no luck with the likes of Altacast or Shuicast). However, it did not register the audio that was playing in AIMP - only mic input worked, which is not ideal.

Another nice thing would be to have the ability to initiate the connection to the Shoutcast or Icecast server via command line - is it possible for plugins to add their own switches to AIMP? The use case would be for someone to remotely initiate the connection (say, someone in an IM client that can see what you're listening to), so they can listen along.

For those interested, Winamp's Commpunity Update Project (WACUP) comes bundled with a simple streaming server and the source streaming plugin, such that they can be both started from Winamp very easily.

Happy holidays everyone!

I was hoping AIMP developers would have made a shoutcast/Icecast plugin by now, in the past i could use the shoutcast plugin in AIMP and that worked, but that's with older versions of AIMP, not the recent ones.

Offcourse i'd prefer to use shoutcast with AIMP on my system, and a little bit of wishing would allow me to revive my old "Request-a-Song" website so my friends could pick tracks from my playlist they want to hear...
(check this for an example: https://web.archive.org/web/20051030104643/http://music.bogy.be/ ) Ofcourse this time I would keep the site private, as in the past i got mails from SABAM/RIAA to start paying money as they saw me as a public radio station (back then bandwith also wasn't so prevalent as today, I only had 768 kbit upload, limiting me to have only a few 128kbit streams, nowdays i have 40mbit upload I could easily set 32 slots at 160kbit AAC which would sound a lot better too for the listeners)

This is also a feature I would use, with Icecast if possible !
Is there anyone working on this project ?
