Title: Missing Playlist Problem
Post by: solidterry on June 08, 2018, 02:14:06
One of my playlists has disappeared from the playlist area of the interface as well as from the Managing Playlists area.  I looked in the AppData/Roaming/AIMP folder and found the playlist, selected it and opened it in AIMP, but it is a very old version of the playlist.  I need the newest version.  I regularly exported new versions of the playlist before it disappeared.

Can someone help me find this playlist?

1.  Check whatever location you regularly exported the playlist to (it defaults to the Windows "Documents" directory), or,

2.  Try doing a search in Windows for the name of the playlist file.

Yes, I checked there too, and it shows that the file has the most recent date.  But when I open the file in AIMP the playlist is empty.  Am I opening it the wrong way?

First, open the playlist file you have identified as being the correct one in a text editor like Notepad--do the contents reflect what you expect to see?  If so, choose "Import Playlist" from the options at the bottom of the Playlist window, browse to and select the correct playlist.

After opening it in Notepad, none of the songs are there.  Just this:

#-----SUMMARY-----#
ID={6468C69F-578B-49B7-B01D-F97BBAAE751A}
Name=Assorted Faves 1
NameIsAutoSet=0
PlaybackCursor=-1
PlaybackCursorAutoBookmark=0

#-----SETTINGS-----#
Flags=2047
FormatMainLine=%IF(%Artist,%Artist - %Title,%Title)
FormatSecondLine=%FileFormat :: %SampleRate, %BitRate, %FileSize
GroupFormatLine=%FileDir

Yeah there should be a "#-----CONTENT-----# section with the actual track listings.  How you could be accidently exporting a blank playlist, I don't know, unless it's a Windows permissions issue of some kind.  Are you running AIMP with Administrator's rights?  Are you sure you didn't accidently export an empty "Default" playlist by clicking on the wrong tab?  Make a new playlist with new tracks within AIMP, export that, then check that one with Notepad.  I'm out of ideas on this one.

I see what you mean about the CONTENT section and track listings.  It's there for my other playlists which were exported the same way.  No Windows permissions issues either.

I was finally able to fix it by opening the AIMP playlist folder on my C: drive and right-clicking on the missing playlist folder and choosing Restore previous versions which gave me a few restore points to choose from.

Thanks so much for attempting to help me with this.  Your suggestions helped lead me to the solution.  :)
