Title: Feature requests for Alarm (in scheduler)
Post by: chros on January 13, 2018, 14:46:33
Hi!

I've been a long time Winamp user (http://forums.winamp.com/showpost.php?p=3148056&postcount=2120) (>20 years :) ) and I read about Aimp last weekend and I'm using it since then: and wooow! It just blew my mind! It's almost perfect!

I use ClockAmp 2.6 (http://web.archive.org/web/20090822192732/http://freewebs.com/clockamp) with Winamp and I miss only couple features from Alarm that ClockAmp 2.6 plugin has (Sleep is perfect):

1. ability to set (e.g. a checkbox) that Alarm is always preserve it state:
- e.g. I wan to wake up Windows every day at 6:00, now I always have to re-enable Alarm for the next day. So when I enable it I want to be always on.

2. ability to stop music after x minutes (e.g. 60 minutes)

3. ability to wake up computer x seconds before alarm
- this is extremely useful: Windows will wake up  (e.g. 60 seconds) before the actual playback starts.
- e.g. I script to turn on and set to proper music mode my AVR (with Task Scheduler in Windows)
-- if you're curious how then let me know :)
- e.g. when you want to wake up online radios (di.fm, last.fm, etc.) but you use a VPN connection: in this 1 minute the VPN connection can be set up

4. ability to set "Do not allow to power down computer when alarm is ON"

5. ability to show a GUI for Alarm, that also show the system clock
- take a look how ClockAmp looks like, this is really useful
- user can deside whether it visible or not (for those who don't use it)

I can upload ClockAmp and its skins somewhere if you want to play with it a bit, just let me know.

Thank you for this great software!

Or do you really need to stop playback?

Thanks for the reply.
That setting belongs to Sleep Timer, right? The Sleep Timer functionality is perfect for me.

In point 2 I'm talking about a similar functionality but for only the Alarm part:
- once playback starts due to the Alarm, it can stop playback after x minutes
-- or instead of having stop fixed in the logic: in a drop-down we can select what to do (sleep/pause/stop etc.) like in Sleep Timer
- in this way you can use the Sleep Timer all the time as you set it once

Thanks for the link!
That's indeed my 1. point:
- I agree with the 2. point of your old suggestion.

Actually, what's really important for me is:
point 1.) and point 3.)

Now I'm still using ClockAmp+Winamp to achieve these (just to wake up my computer couple of minutes before), and I also have to enable alarm in Aimp every day.

Thanks for considering it.
