Shuffle is realy random. Player creates internal playback queue from tracks from playlist. Its designed to prevent any repeats until end of the queue

Cheers.

Could not get shuffle to work, just plays the next track. I do have the local media selected on album.

Check "Queue manager" (Ctrl+Q).

I use AIMP everyday and i observed that the random don't work very well.

I have 7160 songs in the list and the program repeat many times the sames songs, sometimes 10 songs later since it was heard.

Is there any star rating / weighting that influences the random?

Version v4.51 build 2084

Thank! the best music program

It impossible according to used algorithm, of course, if you not re-create shuffler's queue by toggling the "shuffle mode" button.
If you want to check it, you can plug-in the AIMP history plugin and log all played files.

Is there any star rating / weighting that influences the random?

No

hmm. duplicates or identical songs (different bitrate or duration).
Seems like piece of DJ sets, [Various Artists], "Top <###>" compilations, "Best of <##-##>", etc..., remastered albums...
Or it was heard another mixes of that songs/singles...

I have that feeling too, that some songs are playing too often and others less often, I toggle the shuffle mode sometimes for other tabs/playlist, so is it a problem?

In this topic I found, that useful feature was added for Android version, but it's not available in Windows version:

Help with AIMP - Shuffle for single playlists but not for all  (https://www.aimp.ru/forum/index.php?topic=62476.0)

Could you add this feature also for Windows version, please? Not just for this topic issue, but I want to always use shuffle option for some playlists/tabs and never for others - and I always forget to switch it back.  :(

Yes, because with this action you are create a completely new shuffle mode queue:

Starts from v3.60 AIMP's algorithm does not allow repetitions while entire playlist will not be played, of course, if you have not interfere into playback queue (re-import the playlist, re-start the playback from any track in playlist) and does not toggle the shuffle mode

OK, thanks for info, so that feature to use shuffle mode per tab would be even more useful.

I found a way, how to not toggle the shuffle mode and play the whole album with shuffle mode disabled, in the same tab, or another tab. It's just a workaround, but it's easy to use.

Just middle click the album title, that's all, the items will be added to queue and played in order, no need to disable the shuffle mode, and re-enable it.

This workaround can be used also for whole tab with many items, just select all items, right click - Queue - Add to queue. It's possible to use the keyboard shortcuts too, but I changed some, so I'm not sure which are defaults for these actions.

This way you never need to disable the shuffle mode.
