Title: Remembering the order of playlists
Post by: xeo on December 20, 2024, 16:26:06
Now, in Managing playlist when you deactivate all active playlists (set manually) and activate them again their order is changed.
Add remembering the order of playlists so it is not changed after turning them all off/on so you don't have to set everything manually again.

Some ideas:
- the function would be operated from the context menu in the playlist manager - Save order.../Load order...
- saving would be to a file (save file dialog), e.g. in a folder with playlists
- information to be saved in the file: playlist ID, order (taken from the manager), grouping
Only active (enabled) playlists would be saved. If the order of playlists that are currently disabled (and were saved) is loaded, the order of only the enabled ones will be restored, without changing the remaining playlists order.
When loading an order file, the following messages will be displayed if needed:
- a possible change in the order of current playlists (if the order has been changed after saving)
- order of only parts of the saved playlists will be restored or that there is no order to restore (if playlists that were saved are missing/inactive)

their order changes

sure, playlist orders by it unload timestamp.

Turning them all back on puts them in yet another order.

Sure, this is correct behavior. The playlists loads in order that you load them

Yes, but only when you de/activate them individually. I wrote about de/activating all of them at once (by selecting In/Active playlists checkbox).

In this case, loading/unloading order equals to order in the list

Yes, this is correct behavior. Last deactivated playlist will be at top.

Ok, but I deactivated them all at once and it broke my manual playlist order. Now I have to arrange many playlists with different names manually again based on earlier made screenshot of playlist order.
I suggest adding the option of saving your own playlist order, e.g. to a file that will be saved in the playlist directory.
