I have some artists complete discographies sorted in different folders. I want to create a smart-playlist for each of them so that when i update them (let's say artist X released a new album and i get it) the playlist related to artist X updates by itself.
Now i also can create other artists discographies, artist X, Y and Z, each with their own smart-playlist.
My question is weather i can create a "list of lists", meaning another list that includes the three smart-playlists mentioned above and also auto-updates with them. What i want is the following:
- I have the three smart-playlists mentioned with some tracks selected (or activated, don't know how to translate, but some with the tick and some without)
- I also have the encompassing "All" smart-playlist, that includes "Artist X", "Artist Y" and "Artist Z" smart-playlists, with same selections marked (does this auto-updates as well?).
- Now Artist Y releases a new album and i get it.
- "Artist Y" smart-playlist should update (i know it does, this works pretty well).
- I want the "All" playlist (the one that includes the other 3) to update itself.
- Also, if i filter or unselect/unmark some of the songs i don't like in "Artist Y" smart-playlist, i'd love it if "All" would update the seleciont/marks as well.
Is this possible? If so, please tell me how. I know how to make the "Artist X", Y and Z smart-playlists and select/mark songs in them. I just don't know how to create the list-of-lists mentioned... Thanks in advance!

Specify multiple artists when creating or edit a playlist, preimage part.

I don't have any Artist in the third combo-box... Do i need to make each library first? In case i do that, do i also need to create a list for every artist as well as the library or would the library be enough?
The thing is, i have about 80 different artists, and making the whole thing is going to take a while. I don't want to spend all that time if i'm not sure the proposed solution will work.
Thanks for replaying!

Then maybe I misunderstood the request. Maybe someone else can give me some advice.

Just to clarify to anyone else, my music directory looks like this:
Music/
Lists/
artist_x.aimppl4 (this is the Artist X smart-playlists that auto-update depending on files on 'Music/Artist X/')
artist_y.aimppl4 (same as in Artist X)
artist_z.aimppl4 (same as in Artist X)
...
all_artists.aimppl4 (this is the encompassing smart-playlist that i want to auto update depending on the other)
...
Artist X/
Album X_1/
song01.mp3
song02.mp3
song03.mp3
...
Album X_2/
song01.mp3
song02.mp3
song03.mp3
...
...
Artist Y/
... (similar to the above)
Artist Z/
... (similar to the above)
Also, if i need to make normal playlists, libraries or something else, i'm willing to do it, but i need to be sure it will work. Otherwise i would lose lots of time rearrenging everything for nothing since i have like 80 discographies under Music/

The option above (my screenshot) was related to tag fields, i.e. they should be in files, not in file and folder names. If the fields in the music library are empty, then there will be no grouping. You first need to look at the capabilities of the music library and what it displays before you start creating smart playlist rules.
You can use a folder address (file name) as a template if you are using a smart playlist based on the Music Library.
You can create a smart playlist based on folders for the preimage parameter in the playlist.
* There will be no synchronization of "marks" from other playlists, there will be synchronization of files from based on the selected source.
I think that your overall request is very complex, so we cannot implement it to the full extent.
