Title: What does "force 16 bit output" option do?

Does it make 24 bit audio reproduce at 16 bit and does turning it off make it reproduce at 24 bit?

If it helps, I have a Samsung Galaxy a52s 5g which should be able to do 24bit/96Khz (I have read that it defaults to whatever android says but I'm not sure)

turning it off gives the choice to the Android side.
