Title: [x] [2536] How to move music library to different disk?
Post by: eobet on January 17, 2024, 15:07:36
I run AIMP "portable", from a USB drive. For every computer I plug it in to, I know I have to make sure that the drive letter is the same otherwise the music library stats in AIMP will get wiped.

But now I want to copy the entire AIMP folder and my library to a local drive, which means that the drive letter has to change.

How do I prevent all of my stats in my library (and playlists, etc) from being wiped when doing this?

Music library automatically adjusts the drive letters of indexed files, it does not loose the files...
What I should do to reproduce your scenario?

I copied the following structure:

E:\Music\Aimp
E:\Music\Audiophile
E:\Music\Bandcamp
E:\Music\Soundcloud
E:\Music\Beatport

To the following:

C:\Users\eobet\Music\AIMP
C:\Users\eobet\Music\Audiophile
C:\Users\eobet\Music\Bandcamp
C:\Users\eobet\Music\Soundcloud
C:\Users\eobet\Music\Beatport

And when I open AIMP from the C drive, the entire music library is wiped in the left column...

And when I try to play a file, I get this error:

Oh, but this is not "the drive letter has to change". You have changed the path!
So, if your will store the music at "C:\Music" the library will work fine.

Ok, that made all the files re-appear, but I still can't play them.

When I try to play, I still get the FFFFF error and the popup says it's looking at E: still...

EDIT: I just went into the profiles folder and tried to manually replace all occurences of E: with C: but still the same error pops up when I try to play. There must be other places needing to be updated...

EDIT: Oh, it's the .aimppl4 files... they aren't updating!

Still, again, I lost all my ratings and play counts and such... wiped. :(

How you setup file monitoring in music library?

When I try to play, I still get the FFFFF error and the popup says it's looking at E: still...

Yep it seems the playlists not mapped... but music library should work correctly

It looks like this now, but I don't know if the ratings etc were wiped the moment I opened AIMP when I also had moved it to a different folder...
