Title: [-] [1250] CUE files no longer load

Android 12, AIMP v3.30.1250

I used to be able to open an MP3 file containing many songs, a CUE file with the same name would be loaded, the playlist would be populated with all the song names, and I could navigate through the songs.

That no longer works. Now it's just a big MP3 file with no metadata, and no ability to navigate between songs.

I don't have auto-update enabled, and I don't know what version I was running before. It could be from last year.

How you adding the mp2 to playlist?

I have an MP3 file: CLASSIC-2023-03-20A.mp3, and a CUE file: CLASSIC-2023-03-20A.cue
The CUE file looks like this:

MP3 files are associated with AIMP, so I just click on the MP3 file and it opens in AIMP. It used to find the adjacent CUE file automatically, and populate the playlist.

MP3 files are associated with AIMP, so I just click on the MP3 file and it opens in AIMP. It used to find the adjacent CUE file automatically, and populate the playlist.

Use built-in file adding dialog. Only in this case app can list all files around the audio file. When you click on file in external file manager, AIMP receives only specific URL that does not provide an access to file folder

Clicking on the MP3 file can be done in 2 clicks with one hand. The built-in dialog requires 2 hands: navigate to playlist, click on menu, click to clear playlist, click to confirm, click on menu, click to add file, click on file, click to confirm .... at least 8 clicks. My wife has arthritis, and her hands don't work for the first few hours of every morning. She can't do this.

I've granted access to the folder to AIMP. It used to work. Why did this change?

We've implemented hybrid access mode, that should make process easier

Thank you for your patience, that all makes sense now. I searched for CUE specific issues, and didn't turn up results for the bigger issue that you described.

Do you think it would be possible to work around this by using a helper app like Tasker using Intents?

You can embed cue to file tags. In this case, app not need access to folder

Any chance you have working guidance on how to do that?

I converted the CUE file to this format:

CHAPTER01=00:00:00,000
CHAPTER01NAME=artist - title

And also ffmpeg's dedicated format:

[CHAPTER]
TIMEBASE=1/1000
START=0
END=60000
title=artist - title

In both cases, ffmpeg parsed and printed the playlist, and output a new MP3 without errors. I could see that the data was embedded in the MP3, but it didn't show up when loading in either VLC or AIMP

No, you not need to convert cue to chapters. Just embed the cue as it is
