Title: HOW TO? - Advanced Tag Editor not writing to ID3v1
Post by: WhiteR on February 26, 2023, 14:08:38
Hello!

I've been looking around for the answer for my question in the forum, but couldn't find the answer: how can I make AIMP Advanced Tag Editor not write into the ID3v1 section of the MP3 file (or even delete the ID3v1 tag automatically) as a permanent setting / default for my application?

My use scenario:
- I don't prefer using the ID3v1 tag, due to its severe limitations, so I don't prefer even having it in my mp3 files, thus I usually delete it from every file I edit
- however (after having deleted the ID3v1 already or starting with a file not having it) every time I make a change to the tag data, the AIMP Advanced Tag Editor seems to recreate the ID3v1 tag (so i have to delete it again - I'd like to avoid this additional step, obviously)

Thus, my question is: how can I make the AIMP Advanced Tag Editor not to do that, i.e. how can I make it to ignore / not to write into the ID3v1 section or even to delete ID3v1 on any tag edit/update action of the mp3 files automatically. Is there a setting I couldn't find so far?

Thanks in advance for your answers/recommendations!

(Congratulations for the software, Artem, BTW!)

Thank you for your reply! Perhaps I was not clear enough (my fault, and I'll update the question, then) but I was looking for a more permanent solution, like a setting that can be applied for all further actions without the need to additionally change the set-up each and every time. (I never use ID3v1 and I always want to get rid of it, so that can be a default for my AIMP ATE application). As far as I understand, the solution you've kindly suggested is a one-off only, i.e. I have to specifically apply this setting every time I'm doing a change/update.

Again, I apologise, if my initial question was not perfectly clear.

I afraid it impossible for now.

OK, thank you very much for the answer, anyway!

(actually, if I may add some more context, quite some years ago I had been using the Quintessential Media Player for bulk-editing  of mp3-tags and the idea came from there, as that was quite convenient for me and I had set up as default for myself, see the attached screenshot - just FYI, however if this could be implemented in the near future, I'd very much welcome that)
