Hi All, New to this forum and just recently started using AIMP. Excellent software!
Question - some of my music is in folders that exceeds Windows 10's 'Maximum Path Length Limitation' of 256 characters. Unfortunately
I would be difficult for me to move the location of said music as it is synced up with OneDrive and I prefer not to hack my registry.
I am currently using AIMP 4.7 and it will not play the particular MP3 files that exceed this 256 count. WMP will not play them either however
Groove will play them.
Any good suggestions for a work around for this? I generally start playing music by double-clicking on a given MP# file/song in a given files
and the it opens up in AIMP.
Thank you for any suggestions!
Jimmy

AIMP supports for long-paths, but Windows 10 does not support it by default unlike previous Windows versions. Refer to this article for more information https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/fileio/maximum-file-path-limitation

Thank you very much for your reply, much appreciated.
I modified my registry value from 0 to 1 per the linked documentation and then rebooted my computer. Upon restart, I confirmed that registry
value had saved and AIMP is still not playing any of my MP3's with a long path.
Any further suggestions?
Thank you again

What error happened on attempt to play the file? On my Windows 7 all works fine.
-
Thank you for the response.
I didn't receive a specific error. On the MP3 files that have shorter paths, I double click on them and the open in AIMP whereas the MP#'s with longer path, I double click and nothing happens. I move the MP3 into my root c: directory and double click and it then works fine.

Double click in aimp's playlist or windows explorer?
-
sorry, I double click the MP3 file in Windows Explorer. I have always accessed my music via Windows Explorer as it is comfortable, though may not be the best way. I am using AIMP as a player and have not added anything into playlists. Thank you!

So, what happened if you first add the files to playlist and start playing from it?

The MP3 files seem to work fine when played from a playlist within AIMP. I will just adjust how I am choosing my song and choose from the playlist until I find a better option. Thank you for all of the help, much appreciated!
